Continued research has linked gum disease to diabetes, heart disease and low birth weight. In an effort to rid your teeth of the plaque and tartar that causes gum disease (gingivitis) and tooth decay, your dental care hygienist may suggest a regimen of care that requires more frequent visits.
At Mirror Lake Dentistry we offer a variety of dental services to help serve our clients in many areas of dental care. From orthodontics to implants and dental crowns, our talented team will provide you with the best service possible.
Nitros Oxide Sedation
Nitrous Oxide Sedation (Laughing Gas) is beneficial for patients who have mild anxiety or fear. This technique creates a state of conscious sedation, which results in relaxation, comfort, and sometimes unawareness. This can be used for both children and adults. Most people are familiar with this sedation technique, and it can easily create a relaxed and comfortable environment during procedures. Prescription oral medication is available.
Dental implants are essentially permanent, attached teeth that replace, partials, bridges or dentures. A titanium implant is permanently attached to your bone and a prosthetic tooth (crown) is attached to the implant. Implants are preferred to bridges because they can improve your bite without damaging neighbouring teeth (like a bridge). Treatment can be finished in just a few visits.
Endodontic therapy, commonly called a root canal, is a way to treat damaged or infected teeth without removing them. This advanced & (contrary to popular belief) relatively comfortable procedure involves removing tissue from the interior (root canal) of the tooth, cleaning, disinfecting & sealing the tooth. Endodontic therapy is key way for Nicholas Dental Care to help preserve your natural smile, even when problems arise.
Having straight teeth is important for both health and appearance. Get the beautiful smile you’ve always wanted—without the metal-mouth! A dental crown restores a tooth’s shape, size and strength. A crown refers to a single tooth and a bridge refers to multiple teeth. A bridge or a crown fully encases the visible portion of your tooth or teeth. Once it is bonded, only a dental professional can remove it.
With proper care a crown can last 5-15 years. Crowns and bridges require one office visit, but extensive needs can call for additional visits to complete the procedure. Same-day CEREC services are available at our Forney and Heartland locations.
Sometimes, despite a person’s best efforts, they reach a point where they no longer have any teeth. Full dentures remain the most popular option for replacing their teeth. In the past, a denture was held in place by the suction that the denture would develop between itself and the gums it rested on. Now, with the advent of dental implants, we can provide a superior option to just full dentures.
